With so many online video platforms in China, video content creation is booming there. The question is, how do we unearth the popular video content creators in China?
ByteDance is undoubtedly the front-runner of short video platforms in China, with Douyin (known as TikTok overseas), Huoshan and Xigua under its umbrella.
Inspired by the Oscars, 金秒奖 The Best Moment is organized by Toutiao (头条, the core brand of ByteDance) to recognize and award the short video content creators.
The “gold play button” award is quite similar to the YouTube Gold Creator Award, and the awards are voted by industry players, brands and the public.
Perhaps this is something for YouTube to ponder for its next YouTube Festival, to consider having a new segment to recognize YouTube creators (by categories) instead of just the advertisers.
